First, measure out all of the frosting ingredients.
Next, combine the softened cream cheese, room temp butter, sour cream, and vanilla extract in a glass mixing bowl, and beat the mixture with a hand mixer until it is light and fluffy.
Then, add in the confectioner’s sugar ⅓ at a time, mixing well between each addition.
Finally, once all of the sugar has been mixed in and a smooth consistency is reached, the frosting is ready!To decorate: simply spread the frosting on the pastry with a cake spatula, silicone spatula, or pipe the frosting on.To pipe homemade frosting onto a pastry, just transfer the frosting to a pastry bag lined with a metal piping tip. Tie off the bag and cut away any excess.
